Important Hill Taxi & Safety Caveats
- Night Hill Driving: Taxis generally avoid driving up hill roads to Dalhousie or Dharamshala after 08:00 PM due to fog, sharp curves, and lack of street lighting. Plan daytime hill departures whenever possible.
- Himachal State Entry Toll Tax: Commercial taxis registered outside Himachal Pradesh must pay a state entry tax at border checkpoints (Dunera / Damtal / Kandwal). Ensure your cab driver includes this entry tax in the agreed fare.
- Monsoon & Winter Precautions: During heavy monsoons (July-August) landslide warnings occur on NH-154. In winter (Dec-Jan), snow chains are required for Dalhousie and Khajjiar trips.
